I gave a talk at the lovely Golden Door Spa in San Diego. The Golden Door is a sumptuous spa and I am fortunate to be a member of their Speakers Series. My conversation
with the Director of the Golden Door, Kathy Van Ness, is available Here.

“Brian Keating is an astrophysicist at UCSD’s Center for Astrophysics and Space Sciences. He is one of the leaders of a collaboration responsible for building a telescope and observatory, called POLARBEAR, that allows physicists, for the first time, to measure the “gravitational waves” that emanated from the universe during the first moments of its creation. Some 50 scientists from UC San Diego, Caltech, Stanford, Harvard and the University of Minnesota spent 13 years working toward the discovery. “It’s kind of an amazing thing to be a part of; it hasn’t fully sunk in yet,” said Brian. Keating created the telescope that made the discovery. They believe they’ve captured traces left over by cosmic inflation that happened 13.8 billion years ago. The findings need to be confirmed by independent peer review and other methodologies but the implications are significant.”
